As per my review of this model [see link above], I thought I should add some information regarding the screen. I did mention in the review that the screen is quite delicate and fragile, and it appears that quite a few people are looking for a video guide on how to replace the screen on the P20HD. So here it is.

Best Non-Smartphones For 2021

Was watching this video: "Best Dumbphones for Digital Minimalism" and thought it was basically void. You might think the choices are great. But for me, almost every phone Jose picked does not qualify as a "dumb phone", or non-smartphone as I prefer to call them. That's because most of them still have some kind of App functionality, and to me that means it's not really a non-smartphone. A non-smartphone is calls and texts, that's it.

The big majority of these phones are way way overpriced. If you want a phone that's not a Smartphone save some money and just buy one of the older models. Nokia 3210, Samsung B2100 [Great phone], Nokia 8210 or similar. They are really cheap and are definitely the better option. Don't waste your money on any of the models in the video. And the Punkt MP02 [And MP01], what a joke. Over priced and riddled with problems.

Teclast P20HD Tablet Review UK

The Teclast P20HD is not only a Tablet, but also a Phablet! Yes, it does have a SIM card slot. Teclast is a Chinese brand, and to be honest, I never expected much from the P20HD. I thought it would just be another cheap Chinese device that only gets a high  review score due to using the "top reviewers" on Amazon, where a company gives their product to Amazon customers considered "top reviewers" in exchange for an "honest" review.

This can be a bit of a minefield to be honest, because while some people do leave an honest review, alot of the reviewers tend to talk up the product or make it out to be a little better than what it really is. You know the mindset, they've been given the product for free and feel a little bad if they just totally destroy it / diss it etc. So take these reviews with a grain of salt.

But this model is a little different. The Teclast P20HD is actually a pretty good tablet for the price. The spec is really impressive, and the build quality is also very good when compared to its competitors. Don't get me wrong, it's certainly not perfect, no tablet is, especially within this price range. But considering the spec and overall value for money, the P20HD is well worth considering.

When it comes to RAM, this tablet now beats everything within the same price range. The Neocore E1, which has 3GB RAM was the winner in this department for quite some time, but the P20HD has outdone the E1 with a nice even 4GB RAM. The ability to add a SIM card slot so it can be used as a phablet is also a big bonus.

This tablet is very thin and definitely looks like it would cost more to buy than it actually does. The Bezel is rather small and the screen quality is nice. The build quality is also very good. Despite there being some confusion as to whether the back is actually made from metal or not, I can confirm, the back is made of lightweight metal.

The deivce is quite elegant overall, but has a nice weight to it. However the screen, while excellent quality in terms of colours and clarity has a feeling of fragility to it as well. So protecting the tablet, in particular the screen, with a good quality case would be a good idea.

Good Feedback

There are great reports from people using the P20HD as an every day multi-tasker media workhorse. Mostly to browse the Internet, watch YouTube, Prime, Netflix, social media, gaming etc. There's also good feedback from users relating to its cellular abilities, where some people are using the device as a phablet.

Conflicting opinions on the speakers sound quality. Some say they are not too good, while others say they sound terrible. Personally I think they are pretty good. It is a Tablet after all, and most cheap tablets are well-known for having tinny sounding speakers. This one is no exception.

Problems

Problems, all tablets have a few. With this model its mostly the usual suspects. But don't be deterred, most buyers are very happy with this tablet and haven't experienced any of the problems listed below. Reviews are predominantly positive. Your chances of receiving a trouble-free tablet are high.

Dual Cameras. Camera quality is not up to the mark, mainly due to everyone these days having an excellent camera on their Smartphones. So the comparison always leaves the Smartphone as the champion and makes the tablets cameras look straight out the 80's. Nah, they're not that bad really.

Speakers. Already mentioned, and an area of individual opinion and expectations. I thought they were pretty decent for such a cheap, high spec tablet. Just don't turn the volume up all the way as it will start to sound distorted.

Software. Problems related to software have been reported. Certain Apps can't be installed or end up freezing / locking the tablet.

Headphone socket. The 3.5mm headphone jack on this tablet has been a bit of a disappointment for some users. As a result wireless headphones / earphones are recommended for the people disappointed with the sound quality.

Touch screen. Some have reported that the touchscreen responsiveness has become rather poor over time, or the touchscreen has failed altogether.

Battery Quality. How long should a battery last and be able to retain a decent level of power over a period of around a year of use. Of course, all batteries do start to wane after a while, but there are some users who have reported a very short battery duration with this device, within a timeframe where the battery should have still been at its peak.

Quality Control. There does seem to be a number of customers who have received a faulty / problematic tablet. This does seem like a quality control issue because the contrast between a great device that works really well and one that is riddled with problems seems too far apart for this not to be an issue with quality control.

The good thing is, Teclast are pretty responsive to problems and do have good customer service / aftersales support.

The Teclast P20HD offers good value for money. And with all things considered, including its potential, but rare warts, this is one tablet well worth considering within its respective price category.
